Once upon a time I went to Tahiti with some friends. Having joined their trip somewhat last minute most planning and booking of Airbnb rentals was already done. Perfect for my planning laziness. If you haven’t been to French Polynesia, I highly recommend it. Polynesian Francs are used as currency instead of euro as they move further away from French rule. But you can dive into all of that history on your own. For our trip we landed in Papeete on Tahiti Island, the largest island in French Polynesia. Most flights that aren’t to local chain islands will have to file into the same place. After staying the night we took a puddle jumper over to Huahine island, a smaller island along the chain most of the way over towards Bora-Bora. But with a very low population and a small village, this is where we ran into issues. 

When you run a small business, you can't always pay top dollar wages like some massive tech companies do. But that doesn't mean your team shouldn't be happy both at work and when they have time away. Most of that starts with treating people like actual human beings instead of numbers to fill HR goals. Letting your people use your getaway place for vacations not only shows your trust in them, but can significantly reduce the cost burden of taking a vacation that's truly relaxing. After all, alleviating financial stress is the number one way to incrementally increase happiness and life satisfaction (up to a certain point - well above average income levels). It's a simple fact, happy people stay longer and do better work.
